Welcome to the official website of Bill Clark & the Route 15 Band. 2026 is a year that has seen some changes in our personnel. It's been a great run these last 3 years. Steve Walls just joined our lineup on electric bass. Steve and I go back to 1979 when our band, Rosebud Willy, opened for John Hartford and a month later, for Merle Travis. Yes, we've been at this for longer than we can remember. Eli Hall and I go back to the 1980's. Eli is another very seasoned pedal steel player. A rarity in our region. Tom Hardy, on drums, is, in my opinion, one of the best "brush" drummers around. He can also be seen on some Saturday nights backing the long-time and the area's most iconic jazz guitarists, Jeff Sherman. For me, this is such a milestone year. My 60th year since my very first band event, which took place in 1966. The rather large band was known as "The Consuls". Last year, our new album "Through the Years" was reviewed by the long-running local magazine, "Leo Weekly":
" LEO Weekly (excerpt): “If I may get oddly specific; the eight original tracks that make up the rest of the record sound how I believe James Taylor writing songs for Jimmy Buffett, who is being backed by Elvis’ TCB Band would sound like. Folk rock with a pronounced Caribbean music flair mixed with a bit of country, bluegrass, and rooted in the blues. It’s an uplifting sound, to be sure. The talent level here is extraordinary! Not only is Clark still at the top of his game, but he also has a veritable gold mine of Louisville musicians backing him!” Jeff Polk/Leo Weekly
If needing a seasoned band equipped to handle most audiences with story and song and some sing-along's, let’s get on your calendar for your corporate/family/club outing. Cheers to 2026!

Bill Clark, a Singer-Songwriter born/raised in Louisville, Ky., played in his first 7-member band in 1966. Enjoys writing and co-writing with others over the years, mainly in the Americana style, sometimes featuring 3 part harmonies. The first album was released in 1976 and was called “Down to Earth with Country Folk”. One of the tunes on the album (co-written with John Gage), Eminor Blues, was chosen by the Louisville Ky. radio station WLRS as one of a handful of original tunes to be featured on their first album featuring regional songwriters. Another original song co-written with Floyd Knobs and recorded by his band Buffalo Squeeze, “Buying a Heartache on the Lay Awake Plan” was chosen in 1981 to lead off another album of regional songwriters for radio station WLRS. All songs were recorded live at the Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville, Ky. Bill comes from a musical family. From one brother (Mickey Clark), who wrote songs for the likes of the Oak Ridge Boys and Tompall Glaser, to another brother (Del Clark), whose band, Stonehenge, opened for the Grateful Dead in 1967. All 3 of the Clark Brothers performed together and even followed the band Marilyn Manson at the Mangy Moose Saloon in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 1999. Bill has enjoyed his many years performing in various capacities on stage, TV, and radio. Some of the highlights of performing were opening for John Hartford, Merle Travis, and David Allan Coe, and being on the bill with Chet Atkins and Billy Ed Wheeler in Gravel Switch, Ky. at Penn’s Store (The Great Outhouse Blowout) in 1994. In his 60th year of performing, and nearly as many years writing songs, he still has plenty “left in the tank” with his latest tune about online dating “I Think I Like You” which may cause the listener to smile or even…laugh out loud. The latest CD "Through the Years" can be found on all major platforms. From Corporate to Honky Tonks, The Route 15 Band is equipped to handle all the above, and then some.

Carla grew up singing and has continued throughout her lifetime, in a variety of venues in and out of state. She is one of the area's best-kept secrets. Carla was chosen from a select group of female singers in our area to be a headliner for the long-running "Ladies Sings the Blues". Appeared 3 times on Great Day Live in Louisville. Performed 3 times on the widely respected Kentucky Homefront show over the years. Sings with others in our area and even has her own blues' band. An amazing talent whether it be lead vocals or harmonizing with her band mates. Also known to perform her originals on stage, on occasion. An exciting add to the band!

A long-time drummer on the Louisville scene, Tom Hardy has enjoyed the stage with The Juggernaut Jug Band, rhythm and blues group Backstreets, blues guitarist/vocalist Brian Curella, jazz legends Jeff Sherman, Helen Humes and Jimmy Raney, just to name a few.

Eli and the Clark family go way back to the 1970's, when he traveled the countryside with singer-songwriter, Mickey Clark and the Blue Norther. There's been plenty of music throughout, from a fender telecaster to his main instrument, pedal steel. It is rare in our location to find a solid pedal steel player. During the heyday of the Laurel Canyon music movement, pedal steel guitar led the way. From Sneaky Pete to Buddy Emmons, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and others. Laurel Canyon all the way.

Steve Walls, one of the newer members of the Route 15 band. Steve is a well-seasoned bass player who's been playing bass since the 1970's. Bill Clark and Steve go back to the Rosebud Willy Band, in 1979. They had the pleasure of opening for John Hartford and Merle Travis. Long time staple in the Louisville blues circle, Steve has enjoyed the top tier of blues bands in the region for years. Steve played 28 years in Louisville's premier Rhythm and Blues Band "The Saints", & "Louisville Fats and the Rhythm Cats". Some of the other acts he has shared the stage with are James Brown, Muddy Waters' Legendary Blues Band, John Lee Hooker, John Hammond, Marcia Ball, Delbert McClinton, Mitch Ryder, Faron Young, and Connie Smith. A great addition to the Route 15 Band.
